  3. What is the difference between Template SMS and Custom SMS?

When you are trying to send an SMS in ApnaComplex, you can notice two “types” of SMS – Template Based SMS and Customer SMS.

As per TRAI regulations, ApnaComplex.com can send bulk SMS to the members even when they are on DND list.

However, the type of messages that can be sent have to be pre-approved by regulatory authroities. This is to ensure the end users do not get spammed with unwanted messages.

The template SMS contains the list of such pre-approved templates. As an admin, you have an option to fill in the blanks to customize your message and send the SMS to members. This will reach all members who have opted-in to receive SMS.

Custom SMS is free text message – admin can type anything – but these messages will reach only those members who are NOT in the DND. Usually most members are on DND – so a custom message may not reach most of the members.

Now, even when you have sent template based SMS for the first time, it is likely that it has not reached any one.

It is quite possible that the first SMS you have sent to all owners/residents did not reach many. Please read futher below to understand the possible issues.

To receive SMS from ApnaComplex a member must have done one of the following:

1. Login into ApnaComplex and update the SMS Notification Preference to “Yes” in the profile. To do this, go to Home->My Profile and update the “Opt-in for SMS Notification” to Yes. With this, you have given exclusive permission to ApnaComplex to send an SMS to you. Without this, we will not be able to send SMS to the member. Please note that by doing this, you will NOT receive spam SMSs from other marketers. Members will only receive SMSs scheduled or sent by the committee, like meeting reminders, emergency notifictions etc.

OR

2. Remove your number from DND list. However, when you are not on DND list you will not only receive ApnaComplex messages but also potential SPAM messages from others. This is not recommended.

Please note that we will NOT be able to auto-update the profile of any members, as if they have opted-in to receive SMS. It is mandatory that the member logs in and opts-in for receiving SMS notifications. This is a regulatory requirement.
